Trekking in Tanzania
- Our trekking safaris are always a big success as they allow you to experience the landscapes and cultures of Tanzania up close and personal.
- We conduct these treks in the beauty of Maasailand, on the acacia plains west of Kilimanjaro, and also in the other-worldly highlands of Ngorongoro.
- Our treks can be tailored to include climbs of mountains such as Oldonyo Lengai, Oldonyo Kerimasi, the Masonik Mountains, Gol Mountains, or Longido Mountain. We leave the vehicle seats far behind and spend our days walking along trails deep in Maasai country, where the encounters with the inhabitants is authentic and genuine.
- Our Maasai guides have been with us for many years, and interpret the natural world, inviting you into the lives of their people. They know the terrain well and are conscious of the need to preserve both the culture of their own people, as well as the wilderness that surrounds them.
- The daily treks are on average about 5 to 6 hours - typically trekking in the cooler morning hours. Our camp crew goes ahead to find an ideal place for the camp, so by the time you arrive, camp is set up and a delicious meal is ready. We use small supply vehicles to carry the camps, or donkeys for porterage thus keeping our approach as low impact as possible. While we try to keep things simple, you will be amazed at the level of comfort we provide, with hearty, healthy meals and friendly, helpful staff.
